What's going on under the bridge?

Posted: Thursday, 29 July 2010, 12:16 PM

Yes we are all wondering... I spoke to Luisa Penman, owner of the Camden Estate vineyard. The one under the Macarthur Bridge at Camden. "We have pulled out the vines in the block nearest the river as they were not very healthy and not producing well. With the grape market the way it is we have decided not to replant with vines but we will be growing crops – probably Lucerne," Luisa told me. "The largest block of vines are doing well and we are looking forward to a good year with them. We will have a limited amount of cases of wine for sale in the next month or so. Early tasting of the wine is looking good and we are expecting a quality unoaked chardonnay which displays lots of fruit." But how do we get this high quality chardonnay? Make sure you get the Spring edition of my magazine for all the answers.
