Free Chemical Cleanout

Posted: Thursday, 8 July 2010, 12:07 PM

If you have unwanted chemical clutter around the home, Council encourages you to dispose of it safely and correctly by taking advantage of a free household chemical collection. A joint initiative of Campbelltown City Council and the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW, the annual Household Chemical CleanOut event is the safest way to dispose of potentially hazardous household chemicals, many of which could cause harm to your family and the environment if not disposed of correctly. In addition, many of these materials can be recycled or reused, so not only will you be helping to reduce waste and pollution, you will also assist resource recovery efforts. Last year alone, Campbelltown residents dropped off more than 36,000 kilograms of household hazardous waste during the weekend of the collection, including 15,700 kilograms of paint, 7400 kilograms of motor oil, 7000 kilograms of batteries, and 2000 kilograms of gas bottles. This year’s Chemical CleanOut will be held on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 July at 59 Junction Road, Leumeah from 9am to 3.30pm.
