Description
Unsure about how to reduce the amount of plastic in your life? Be part of the War on Waste - especially plastic waste!
In this free workshop, participants will learn about the extent of plastic pollution in our environment and how to take action to reduce the use of single use plastic, textile waste as well as packaging waste generally. You'll learn what the plastic recycling numbers mean and what you can put in your Yellow Bin, how to avoid waste contamination, how to recycle soft plastics through the REDcycle program, and what can be recycled at your Community Recycling Centre.
Leah and members of the Camden Boomerang Bags group will demonstrate how to make reuseable bags from recycled T-shirts and fabric remnants. Boomerang Bags is an international movement which creates reusable bags out of up-cycled material to foster sustainable behaviour, promote conversations on how we can reduce our reliance on plastic, and enjoy being part of a local community.
Alice, the local ONYA life representative, will also be here with a range of products for sale from reusable shopping bags, produce bags, backpacks & coffee cups, to steel drink bottles and straws.
We will have examples of alternative products or methods that you can use in place of plastic including alternative bin liners, drink bottles, coffee cups, straws, produce bags, cling film, toothbrushes and so much more.
Afternoon tea will be provided and there'll be an opportunity for participants to share information on how they have reduced reliance on plastic in their lives.
Free workshop 1pm - 4pm
These sustainable workshops are funded by Campbelltown City Council with the goal of increasing environmental stewardship within the Campbelltown community.
