The HJ Daley Library, Eagle Vale Central Library and Ingleburn Community Centre will be home to HSC students next month, when the 2011 HSC lecture series gets underway. The 2011 HSC lecture series brings together HSC experts, secondary school teachers and senior exam markers, to provide helpful information and study tips on key subjects and topics to students preparing for their exams. Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the lectures would be beneficial for local students who are keen on advancing their study opportunities.

“The three local lectures will cover the English area of study, including Belonging, Immigrant Chronicle and Creative Writing,” said Cr Lake.

Presenter Larry Grumley will conduct Belonging, an extended response, writing task and short answer comprehension lecture at Eagle Vale Library on Thursday 2 June from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Peter Skrzynecki will present the second local lecture, focusing on Immigrant Chronicle, at Ingleburn Community Centre on Monday 13 June from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

The third lecture will be presented by Bernard Cohen, taking on a workshop format to uncover the key Creative Writing elements for HSC English, including recent markers’ comments. It will take place at the HJ Daley Library on Wednesday 22 June from 5pm to 8pm.

To wrap up the local lectures, the Reference Services Librarian will host the HSC Student Information Session, covering useful study and research skills. It will be held at the HJ Daley Library on Wednesday 29 June from 5pm to 6.30pm.

The lectures cost $7.50 per student. Bookings for the HSC lectures and free Student Information Session can be made on 4645 4444. The 2011 HSC lecture series also includes lectures in Camden and Wollondilly libraries.
